Overview
The Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sargodha is committed to excellence in pharmaceutical education, research, and professional development. The College of Pharmacy under the Faculty of Pharmacy offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs designed to develop competent pharmacists, researchers, and pharmaceutical scientists. Faculty of Pharmacy is recognized by Pharmacy Council of Pakistan and Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. A flagship academic program includes the five-year program Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.); MPhil programs in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmacy Practice, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Pharmacognosy; and PhD programs in Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology. The Pharm.D. program follows the curriculum approved by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and is accredited by the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan. Supported by qualified faculty, well-equipped laboratories, specialized library resources, and an active research environment, which promotes scientific inquiry, critical thinking, practical competence, and innovation in pharmaceutical sciences.
The Department of Pharmacy was established at the University of Sargodha in 2003 to provide professional education through the Doctor of Pharmacy program. In 2009, it was upgraded to the Faculty of Pharmacy, marking a significant step towards expanding postgraduate education and research activities. Subsequently, in 2018, the College of Pharmacy was established as an academic unit within the Faculty of Pharmacy, further strengthening its educational and research framework. Since its inception, the institution has continued to advance pharmaceutical education, develop research capacity, and contribute to the preparation of skilled pharmacy professionals. Its research activities encompass drug formulation and delivery, pharmaceutical technology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacological investigations, and pharmacy practice, fostering an environment that connects fundamental scientific knowledge with practical and healthcare-related challenges.
Pharmacy graduates are equipped to pursue diverse career opportunities across the healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, regulatory, research, and academic sectors. Potential career pathways include hospital, clinical, and community pharmacy; pharmaceutical manufacturing and formulation development; quality assurance and quality control; drug research and development; pharmaceutical analysis; regulatory affairs and pharmacovigilance; pharmaceutical marketing and sales; biotechnology; and teaching and academic research. Through its emphasis on theoretical knowledge, laboratory training, research skills, and professional development, the college aims to produce graduates capable of contributing to the safe and effective use of medicines, pharmaceutical innovation, and improved healthcare services in Pakistan.
