Overview

The Department of Statistics was established in 2008 as part of the Faculty of Scinece at University of Sargodha. It provides education and research in statistics and data analytics. It develops students’ statistical reasoning, mathematical understanding, and computational skills to analyse data, quantify uncertainty, and support informed decisions across business, healthcare, industry, and government.Our vision is to achieve excellence in statistical sciences and data analytics through quality education, innovative research, and practical applications. Our mission is to prepare skilled and ethical graduates who can address real-world challenges through sound statistical methods and responsible use of data.The department offers BS Statistics, BS Statistics(5th Intake), BS Data Analytics, MPhil Statistics, and PhD Statistics. Launched in Spring 2026, BS Data Analytics strengthens our focus on programming, data management, visualisation, machine learning, and deep learning. The curricula integrate strong theoretical foundations with practical training using R, Python, and other statistical software.Faculty expertise spans survey sampling, Bayesian statistics, spatial statistics, regression modelling, statistical process control, and machine learning. Students develop analytical and research skills through computational assignments, applied projects, and postgraduate research.Future priorities include expanding postgraduate programs in data analytics, establishing a Statistical Consulting Lab, strengthening computational facilities, and building research and industry partnerships.
