UoS honours winners of inter-departmental literary and co-curricular contests

University of Sargodha organised a prize distribution ceremony to honour students who secured top positions in inter-departmental literary and co-curricular competitions held under the banner of the Riaz Shad Co-Curricular Forum.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas attended the event as chief guest, while Incharge Public Relations and Publications Muhammad Usman was the guest of honour. Riaz Shad Co-Curricular Forum Dr Muhammad Munir, Assistant Registrar Daim Iqbal, judges and a large number of position-holder students were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas said co-curricular activities played a key role in personality development, creativity and confidence building among students. He said students of the university were demonstrating their capabilities not only in academics but also in literary, cultural and creative fields. He added that encouraging youth towards positive activities was essential to prepare them for a constructive role in the countryโ€™s development.

Dr Munir said the university has been providing students with ample opportunities to showcase their talent and that such competitions promoted healthy academic and literary engagement among youth.

According to the results, Ahmad Raza secured first position in Qiraat, followed by Muhammad Zain-ul-Abidin and Adnan Zafar. In the Naat competition, Zaheer Abbas stood first, Mouzam Mumtaz second and Ayiza Wajid third.

Shahleen won the singing contest, while Hamid Iqbal secured first position in Punjabi Takra. Hamna Azam topped the serious Urdu speech contest, whereas Syeda Mehreen won the humorous Urdu speech category.

Alina Alam secured first position in serious English speech, while Kisa Fatima won the humorous English speech contest. Muhammad Faizan stood first in the quiz competition.

In essay writing contests, Sumra Gull won the English essay category and Fatima Jameel secured first position in Urdu essay writing.

Syeda Mehreen won both Urdu Ghazal and Urdu Nazam competitions, while Tayyaba Ramzan secured top positions in Punjabi Ghazal and Punjabi Nazam contests.

Mayida Batool won the Bait Bazi competition, Manahil Iqbal secured first position in photography, while Aliya Batool and her team won the drama competition.
