University of Sargodha Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat (S.I., T.I., H.I.) has stressed the need for continuous professional development of university employees, saying effective training and teamwork are essential for aligning the institution with the demands of the modern era.
He was addressing the inaugural session of a two-day training workshop on government rules and policies for officers in BS-16 and BS-17, organised by the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) at the University of Sargodha.
Prof. Dr. Hayat said the university had considerable human resource potential and that the responsibility now was to channel it through effective training, teamwork and a clear institutional direction. He said the HRDC had an important role in developing a workforce capable of contributing effectively at the national and international levels.
Referring to the Higher Education Commission as an example of human resource development, he said the higher education sector had once faced a shortage of PhD faculty, but sustained efforts to develop human resources had helped address the gap.
The vice chancellor said digitalisation of university systems has been another major priority, including the adoption of modern financial and administrative practices such as double-entry accounting. He said the university had to begin the process from where it stood and move forward through collective effort.
He said there was no reason to consider any institutional target unattainable if people worked together with commitment and a shared sense of responsibility.
HRDC Director Amjad Hussain Janjua said the centre had so far organised more than 40 training programmes comprising over 137 sessions, benefiting hundreds of faculty and staff members.
He said the centre would make practical efforts to develop the HRDC as a regional training hub and introduce human resource certification programmes. Measures would also be taken for digital transformation and preparation of an AI-ready university workforce, he added.
On the first day, two sessions were held. Mr. Janjua conducted a session on university ordinances, the Act, statutes and policies, while College of Law Principal Dr. Yasir Aleem delivered a detailed lecture on rules and regulations of the Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority.

At the conclusion of the inaugural session, Mr Janjua presented a commemorative shield to Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat.
