The 24th Annual University Sports Gala 2026 continues at the University of Sargodha with vibrant and enthusiastic sports activities, drawing active participation from athletes representing more than 40 teaching departments across eight faculties.

Organized by the Directorate of Sports, the mega annual event is featuring a wide range of individual and team competitions for both male and female students, fostering a dynamic atmosphere of interdepartmental sportsmanship, healthy competition, and campus unity.

The ongoing gala includes individual events such as athletics, badminton, chess, table tennis, and tennis, while team events comprise basketball, cricket, handball, football, futsal, volleyball, tug of war, and shooting ball. Students are showcasing remarkable talent, discipline, and team spirit, turning the university campus into a lively hub of sporting excellence.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, emphasized the pivotal role of sports in the holistic development of students. He stated that participation in sports not only promotes physical fitness but also instills essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, and resilience.

 The Vice Chancellor encouraged students to actively engage in co-curricular activities alongside academic pursuits to develop balanced personalities and prepare themselves for future challenges.

Meanwhile, Director Sports Mahar Ahmad Khan Haral highlighted that the annual sports gala aims to provide students with a healthy and competitive platform to polish their athletic abilities while strengthening bonds among departments. He added that the Directorate remains committed to promoting a strong sports culture on campus and ensuring maximum student participation in healthy activities.
