The College of Agriculture, University of Sargodha (UoS) recently organized a special event to promote wheat production, supporting both national food security and economic stability.

The ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Principal College of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ijaz Rasool Noorka, department heads, senior faculty, administrative officers, and a large number of students.

During the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas toured the university farm and addressed faculty and students, he emphasized that Pakistan is primarily an agricultural country and that most of its exports depend on this sector. He stated that modernizing agriculture is crucial for sustainable national progress. 

Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas further noted that wheat is our largest crop, and affirmed the university’s commitment to exceed production targets in line with the Punjab government’s agricultural vision. He expressed his full confidence in the wheat-sowing campaign, commending the College of Agriculture’s consistent record of achieving targets and timely cultivation.

During a thorough inspection of the university farm, he directed Prof. Dr. Ijaz Rasool Noorka and Farm Officer Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman to continue refining crop practices according to market demands and regional needs.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Ijaz Rasool Noorka stated that, under the guidance of the Punjab Government and the Commissioner Sargodha, wheat cultivation has been conducted using modern, scientifically sound methods.

He projected that wheat yields will exceed the set targets, similar to other major crops such as rice, citrus, and fodder. He also acknowledged the Vice Chancellor’s support in providing all necessary resources for the campaign.

He further highlighted that the university has established specialized outreach teams of agricultural experts who regularly visit farmers at their doorsteps to provide practical advice and training on wheat cultivation.
