Second Annual Research Arena Kick Starts at University of Sargodha

A week-long activity of Second Annual Research Arena 2025 begins at University of Sargodha which was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission, along with Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan appreciated the University of Sargodha for organizing a comprehensive research festival for the second consecutive year. He lauded the initiative as a model for other higher education institutions and stressed the need for quality research aligned with national priorities and global standards.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas highlighted the UoS’s commitment to advancing research excellence and innovation-driven development. He emphasized that Research Arena has emerged as a national-level platform that not only promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange but also facilitates the translation of academic research into impactful, evidence-based solutions that address real-world challenges.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal, Director ORIC, provided a brief introduction of Research Arena 2025, outlining its objectives, scope, and expected outcomes.

Academic Activities Commenced with "22nd International Conference on Statistical Sciences" jointly organized by department of statistics and department of mathematics. The conference featured over 90 research papers and, 16 international and 12 national invited talks, technical sessions, and interdisciplinary presentations. Special emphasis was placed on emerging and latest research areas, including AI-driven statistical modeling, advanced machine learning, Bayesian deep learning, fractional calculus, computational mathematics, climate and risk analytics, health data science, and data-centric decision systems, reflecting current global research trends.

In addition to the conference, several seminars were held on diverse and contemporary themes. The first seminar titled “The Struggle and Success of Animal Production" was hosted by Department of Animal Sciences, highlighting challenges and advancements shaping sustainable animal production systems.

The second seminar titled “From Loss to Resilience: Innovative Approaches to Biodiversity Conservation in a Changing World,” was jointly organized by Department of Botany and Department of Animal Sciences, focusing on adaptive strategies for preserving biodiversity amid global environmental change.

Pakistan Institute of China Studies also organized the seminar “Building an Ecological Civilization: Lessons from China’s Green Transformation,” offering insights into China’s environmental policies and sustainable development practices.

Women Development Centre, in collaboration with the Institute of Education, conducted the seminar “Your Global Launchpad: Scholarships and Secure Migration Pathways,” providing guidance on international education opportunities and safe migration avenues.

In addition, workshops titled "CPDI (Center for Peace and Development Initiative)" by the Department of Social Work and "Forgiveness and Healing through the Quran" by the Department of Psychology were conducted.

A webinar on The Role of AI in Evolving Sino-US Competition was organized by the Department of International Relations, while a panel discussion on AI Skill-Based Learning: Building Future-Ready Universities was hosted by the Women Development Centre.
