MOU

The Pakistan Institute of China Studies (PICS) at the University of Sargodha has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Pakistan Study Centre (CPSC) to promote academic and research collaboration on Pakistan–China relations and regional studies.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan, Director PICS, and Dr. Talat Shabbir Director CPSC, during a ceremony held at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad. The MoU provides a framework for cooperation between the two institutions in areas of mutual academic interest.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will undertake joint research projects, facilitate the exchange of scholars and experts, and jointly organise conferences, seminars, workshops and policy dialogues.

The collaboration will also encourage the sharing of academic resources, research findings and scientific publications to support scholarly work related to Pakistan–China relations and regional dynamics.

The partnership is expected to expand research opportunities for faculty members, researchers and students while strengthening academic interaction and research networks between the institutions.

Both sides also emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research focusing on strategic cooperation, regional connectivity and emerging global trends.

The initiative will provide opportunities for emerging scholars through joint publications, academic mentorship and collaborative research.

The collaboration is also expected to contribute to ongoing academic discussions on regional development initiatives, including the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and highlight the role of research institutions in promoting knowledge exchange and policy-relevant scholarship.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan said that  the MoU would help strengthen institutional linkages, promote academic excellence and contribute to a deeper scholarly understanding of Pakistan–China relations.
