The Pakistan Institute of China Studies (PICS), University of Sargodha, successfully organized the PHEC Quiz Competition as part of the celebrations marking the 75th Anniversary of Pakistan-China Diplomatic Relations.
The competition was conducted in two major stages: the Internal Level and the Divisional Level. The Internal Level Quiz Competition was organized exclusively for students of the University of Sargodha. The internal competition comprised two rounds, through which students were assessed and shortlisted. The qualifying students were subsequently organized into teams, and the top-performing teams proceeded to represent the University of Sargodha at the Divisional Level.
The Divisional Level Round was held at the Malik Firoz Khan Noon Business School (MFKNBS), University of Sargodha, bringing together teams from five universities. The participating universities included A.G. Niazi University, University of Lahore – Sargodha Campus, University of Mianwali, University of Sargodha, and Namal University. A total of nine teams, with each team comprising three students, participated in the competition, providing an engaging platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge and intellectual abilities.
The quiz covered various aspects of Pakistan-China relations, history, culture, diplomacy, and contemporary developments, providing students with an opportunity to enhance their understanding of the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan, Director, Pakistan Institute of China Studies (PICS) and Focal Person, PHEC, delivered the opening remarks. He welcomed the participating teams and emphasized the importance of engaging young minds in academic activities that promote awareness of Pakistan-China relations and strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries.
After a highly competitive contest, University of Sargodha Team A secured 1st Position, while University of Sargodha Team B secured 2nd Position. A.G. Niazi University Team A secured 3rd Position.
Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Vice Chancellor, University of Sargodha, appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Institute of China Studies in successfully organizing the competition. He commended PICS for providing students with meaningful academic opportunities and for its continued efforts to promote awareness of Pakistan-China relations. The Vice Chancellor also awarded cash prizes and certificates to the winning teams in recognition of their outstanding performance.
Mr. Abbas Haider, Chairman Board, Guest of Honour, along with Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, Pro Vice Chancellor, presented certificates to the members of the organizing committee and shields to the winning teams in recognition of their efforts and achievements.
The competition concluded with appreciation for all participating universities, students, faculty members, committee members, and organizers whose efforts contributed to the successful conduct of the event. The PHEC Quiz Competition served as a valuable platform for fostering academic excellence, healthy competition, and a deeper understanding of the enduring Pakistan-China friendship.
