The Accreditation Committee of the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) visited the University of Sargodha on Thursday to evaluate the university's academic standards, governance, research activities and institutional development as part of the quality assurance framework introduced under the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas welcomed the committee and presented a comprehensive briefing on the university's academic progress, research achievements, infrastructure development and student welfare initiatives. He also highlighted the institution's ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening teaching quality, research productivity, industry linkages and community engagement.

The meeting was attended by Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, deans of various faculties, directors, administrative officers and senior university officials.

During the visit, the committee inspected the College of Agriculture, where members reviewed laboratories, teaching facilities, research projects and practical learning arrangements. The delegation also interacted with faculty members and students to gain first-hand insight into the university's academic environment, research culture and quality enhancement mechanisms.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas said the University of Sargodha was committed to building an internationally competitive academic environment through continuous improvement in teaching, research and innovation. He said the university had aligned its academic priorities with national development goals while introducing market-oriented programmes, promoting interdisciplinary research and expanding partnerships with industry and public sector organisations.

Referring to the College of Agriculture, he said the university was placing special emphasis on modern agricultural education and research to address emerging challenges in food security, climate resilience and sustainable farming. He noted that the university was promoting applied research in precision agriculture, smart farming technologies, advanced crop management and the use of modern agricultural machinery to enhance productivity and support the farming community.

The Vice Chancellor further stated that the accreditation process would help the university identify new opportunities for institutional improvement, strengthen academic governance and reinforce a culture of quality assurance in line with international standards.

The PHEC committee appreciated the university's academic initiatives and observed various educational and research facilities.
