The Career Development Center (CDC) at the University of Sargodha hosted two different language development workshops under its ongoing Skill Development Program.
The sessions include a three-day introductory workshop on the French language and a two-day guidance session titled "Road Map to IELTS" — collectively engaged more than 260 students from diverse academic backgrounds.
These workshops were conducted in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, reinforcing the University’s dedication to equipping students with essential global communication competencies and academic preparedness.
The French Language Workshop, attended by over 140 students, provided a foundational understanding of one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Over the span of three days, participants explored basic vocabulary, sentence construction, and key cultural insights into the Francophone world. The initiative aimed to foster multilingualism, broaden global perspectives, and encourage appreciation for linguistic diversity in academic and professional spheres.
The IELTS Workshop, which drew around 120 participants, offered a structured roadmap to success in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Over two days, students were guided through core components of the exam — listening, reading, writing, and speaking — with strategic tips and techniques designed to boost their performance. The session particularly benefited students aspiring to pursue higher education or professional careers abroad.
Both workshops highlighted the increasing relevance of language skills in today’s interconnected world. While proficiency in French enhances opportunities in diplomacy, global travel, and cross-cultural exchange, strong English language skills and IELTS certification remain critical for students targeting academic and career advancement in English-speaking countries.
Held at the CDC, both sessions witnessed enthusiastic student participation, reflecting a growing commitment to international readiness. At the conclusion of the workshops, participants were awarded certificates of completion, and the events culminated with a renewed collective resolve to embrace language learning as a cornerstone of personal, academic, and professional development.
